Uh oh, looks like some people were about to fall out of the boat (you had to be a mummy in order to travel in the boat). Although there were graphical glitches with that at times.
The hardest part about ML5 was the group steps. I think there were four of them that usually needed to be done before the raid began. You needed just the right group makeup to get them done as well. Basically six specific classes, leaving room for only one or two pickups in your group (which was usually filled by classes like stealhers and other non-essentials). Those group steps could take hours and many deaths if you didn't know what you were doing.

I remember ML5 sort of being a fun break among some of the harder ML's...maybe that was just a lucky impression due to great raid leadership. But the mummy thing was fun

Master Level 6 ML6 had some barren lava terrain in a remote area. I remember fighting taurens and the fight where towers in the distance shot fireballs at the platform where we fought a boss- I got a screenshot from that on the Camelot Vault as their image of the day. And there was the final fortress where you could (much like Odysseus's men) turn into a pig! And the 2-headed Cerberus final boss. You had to be careful you didn't fall into the lava...autofollow could be dangerous!

You had to be careful you didn't fall into the lava...autofollow could be dangerous! "Auto follow could be dangerous... " LOL Were you on the raid that I told everyone to stick/follow me? Most of the raid wiped, right out of the gates, when I LDed and my ghost ran straight into the lava. Draggy, of RD, still loves to tease me about that.

I wasn't on that one, but I heard about it! Hahaha!
I have a picture of me sinking in lava somewhere, hope I find it!

Master Level 7 ML 7 was interesting- more traveling through lava-spewing barrenlands, a large palace where fire giants resided, and Typhon, the icky final boss who would hop around on different islands in the lava. It was hard to take him down, I remember- I think an archer class was a necessity. I sort of had a breakdown on this level, ranting and raving when we couldn't kill Typhon after hours of trying- we had to come back later and kill him to finish the level. I was under a bit of pressure schedule-wise doing this series And yes, that's me sinking in the lava.

The group steps for this ML were great for XP, be it for you or your weapon. You just had to kill massive amounts of creatures (basically getting faction). You didn't need an archer for this ML, per se. You needed someone with good range to keep that little ball engaged in combat, or else you couldn't hurt Typhoon.
Out of all the ML bosses, this one is in the top three of worst (only ML8 and ML9 were worse). The constant going back and forth, depending on where he decided to rear his ugly head, was exhausting. Pets were good to have, because they could track his movement (kind of like cheating, but not).

Master Level 8 This was an interesting series of encounters. The stone statues at the temple were cool- the one guy parried with a 2-handed sword like crazy!- and there were centaur and cyclops encounters. The final big boss was a giant bronze statue which reminded me of the thing from Jason and the Argonauts (Ray Harryhausen RIP). It would one shot me very very dead (I remember him hitting me for over 3500 hit points damage) and I'd get rezzed...would throw some heals out, and get one-shotted again. And again. You'd see him slowly striding towards you, and you knew you had aggro, and you knew you were dead in 5 seconds. He was a long and tough fight! I kinda sorta had second thoughts during this last fight (see ML 7), but kept on, and I'm glad I did.

The ML8 boss encounter was the toughest of the ML bosses. I hated him. The first ML8 raid I led; it took us almost four hours to defeat him. And there were wipes with that. That was his life, slowly ticking down over four hours. There weren't really any tricks with him, he was just really tough to beat. There was nothing you could really do about it taking so long. You just had to keep hacking at him. Without full buffs, you could scarcely hit him (especially if you were a caster). And like Gack said, if he targeted you, you were dead in one hit. You just always hoped he didn't kill the guy that had all the biggest tanks buffed. They later nerfed this encounter, which it desperately needed, to which I was slightly pissed off. Like I said, it took us four hours to kill him one time. He was brought down to about a thirty minute ordeal, if you knew what you were doing, which was fine. But then they nerfed him to the point where he was dead in about five seconds. That was disappointing. After so many hours wasted on this encounter, it was reduced to seconds. The rest of ML8 was fine though; fun even. I enjoyed the area. There was something about the ruins that were cool.

I agree... I hated that one the most too. And those metal screeching sounds. ARGH!
