I dug this out of my archives and thought I'd throw it up. This goes back to my first days in DAoC, and is the first thing I ever wrote about the game. We need to take a tour through Muire before we move on; just for old times' sake.
The Grail of Muire
A pair o’ lads walked through a vale,
A searchin’ for dere Holy Grail,
Which o’a perchance had been disgraced
And deep in Muire somehow displaced.
Two questers they... bound for the tomb,
But each wa’ de spawn o’ a troubled womb
One ha’ no eyes and thus was blind,
An dae other no ears; was deaf, but kind,
An’ as da crypt came into view
They came upon another two,
A legless lassie, who couldn’t walk,
An’ a tongueless maiden, who couldn’t talk,
Wif o’ hail they met and shared their woe,
Each fearin’ da wrath of the slightest foe,
Tho’ dere wills were keen an dere hearts were true,
Each said to the others, “o what shall we do?”
“I’m eyeless mates, can’t see a thing,”
said the first, “but metinks dat I could sing.
An’ wif’ you for eyes, it twont be hard,
I shall open me mouf and be a bard.”
“Me eyes be yers,” said his earless kin,
But ‘ow will I ‘ear when de clash begin,
Guess I’ll stay to de back, far from sight,
And burn dem beasts wif me shaft o’ light.”
Sayd de lassie, “my friends, will you carry me,
For a heroine finds no need ta flee.”
“Aye!” says da others, “dat deal be made,
Fer we need da steel o’ yer shinin’ blade.”
Tho’ she be a hearin’ twu wa’ said,
Da tongueless maiden jus' nodded her head,
An’ somehow dae knew she ‘ad vowed to be
Da healin’ powr fer da other three.
So off to da tomb went dis family,
One sang fer those she could na’ see,
One used a sword, and one used light,
An’ one used healin’ all through da night.
Dae was powered by da bardic speed,
An’ salved by da maiden upon dere need.
Dae was bourne into battle on a shaft o’ light,
An’ guarded in danger, wif a blade o’ might
An’ legends remember dis band o’four,
What brought to its knees the evil of Muire,
In da face of dere fears, dae found a way
To sip from dere Holy Grail that day.
