The Daily Grind: What inspires you to take screenshots? (Massively)Let's talk about screenshots again, one of my favorite things! A Master Level 8 trial in Atlantis, DAoC. The sword-wielding statue parried our attacks at an amazing rate! I enjoy taking large amounts of screenshots because because I like to have a memorable record of in-game adventures. I have over 15,000 screenshots from DAoC, and I can remember many things from perusing them on occasion. This obsession started early; my first online game was Delta Force, an FPS I played back in 1998, and I remember running into enemy fire to get a good screenshot many a time- suicidal cameraman! I think some people thought I was crazy! What could be better than dying photogenically in an FPS?

I don't take many screenshots. I DO have logs of almost everything since I started playing games in '96. Thankfully text files do not take up much room, but I've 3 gig so far.

Dang, three gigs of text files is a lot Dotty. I take screenshots of things I find interesting. Sometimes I run across weird glitches and take a shot. Sometimes I take a shot of something that just looks cool, something that's just normal in the game. Still other times I take a shot of cool sunsets or something to that effect. It depends on what the backdrop for it is, and sometimes I make my character do a pose in front of it. It makes for nice avatars and game shots.

Backgrounds, scenery and locations are the primary drives for screenies with me. It HAS to be beautiful or what's the point? Occasionally a certain moment or individual may inspire a screenie, but it's more often then not the background.
I try to look for movie-like angles and stuff like that
