Last night we got up to Book 2.9- we fought giant spiders and talked to Radagast for the first time, at Ost Guruth in the Lone Lands. We are now in the level 26/27 range- we should finish Book 2 soon!

Last night was another enjoyable time, as always. It seems Middle-Earth gave us a bit of a break after Weathertop and the Great Barrow. I'm sure there will be stern challenges ahead.
I'm not sure I have the horse buying situation sorted out. I was thinking L35 based on my initial review of things, then I did read something about L20. I doubt I'm at all close to having the gold necessary for one anyway, so I'm not sure that it matters right away.

LOTRO Mounts come in different varieties, the 2 basic types are: First Horse- Level 20 mounts for 220 silver- slower, have less health- game founders can get them at level 15. Common Mounts- Level 35 mounts for 4 gold 220 silver- standard speed and health. There are also expansion, reputation, festival, and quest mounts. Lots of choices! We could check and see if everyone can afford a first horse; if not, we can save up coin for the common horse at level 35. One thing that I've noticed is that it helps to do some solo or duo hunting in addition to our weekly group night- when loot is divided 6 ways, there of course is less of it.

The top picture is awesome!!! <claps>
To be honest, it seems the slow horse is about as fast as the hunter's speed spell. It's nice to have a horse, when you're hunting alone and such, but we get everywhere pretty quickly with Paradis' spell.
Level 35's horse is quick and then you can also get others, as Gack said.
Can't wait for Thurs!

I take it that the Hunter spell and the horse's speed don't stack. Paradis has the money buy a slow horse, but couldn't guarantee he'd have to hunt a bit more to buy skills down the road. Money doesn't seem to grow on trees in LOTRO, so I'm thinking that someone leveling his first character needs to be frugal. From where Paradis stands right now...5 gold is a big chunk of coin. If the slow horse is no faster than my hunter spell, then the only hangup I'd have is having to sometimes run behind a bunch of steeds that are dropping road apples in my path. Is the level 20 horse tied in any way to the new expansion? (Actually I'm not sure it matters, for I am having so much fun that I am going to activate it this week. I'm guessing the new expansion is actually already downloaded into my game folder ... just waiting for the activation fee.)

I've been doing some solo hunting every week in between our sessions. First of all, it familiarizes me with the landscape a little more thoroughly than our focused runs. And it helps me tune up my game mechanics. Second of all, there are all manner of generic quests out there (an endless supply it seems) and they are often very interesting. And if one pays attention to locality, the quest sites often overlap enough to make travel for questing not much more trouble than grinding in other games. Don't be afraid to hail me if you notice me out and about...can always use company in hunting.
