Greetings Landroval!

It is with great pleasure I would like to announce Baruk Khazad's first Riddle Race! The Riddle Race is a contest that requires a combination of wit, LotRO knowledge, and speed to reach the finish line!

The Riddle Race will take place on;
Tuesday February 2nd @ 7:00 PM EST

The race will start at Frerin's Court in front of the Thorin's Hall area. Characters may be any level to participate but bear in mind that some of the objectives may require traveling into areas with mobs as high as level 30 and so those of low levels may have more trouble. All those withing to participate are asked to be at Frerin's Court at 7 pm EST sharp and to join the channel /riddlerace

The Prizes are as follows!
1st Place: 5 Gold
2nd Place: 3 Gold
3rd Place: 1 Gold
Consolation Prize: 1 Gold

Here is how the race works:
At the starting line, I will provide all racers with a Riddle. The answer to that Riddle will lead them to an NPC or place in Middle-Earth. Waiting at that location will be another person who when you hail them, will provide you with a 2nd Riddle. This Riddle will lead you to another location and Riddle. The 3rd Riddle will lead you to the Finish Line! The first, second, and third people to reach the finish line will win prizes! However, if you don't make it there in the first three, never fear, you can still win the consolation prize. I will then ask a fourth Riddle of all participants, and anyone who has not yet won a prize may answer, the first to answer will receive the Consolation Prize!

A few ground rules of the race:
1. We ask all racers go only on foot, no swift travel, maps, or personal horses please. We hope everyone will honor this request in the spirit of the contest.

2. We also ask that those who may have speed buffs do not use them (hunter, champ, guard, warden, etc.) to make the race fair for those who do not have those buffs.

3. Please do not give other racers the answers to the various clues.

Baruk Khazad members will be eligible to enter the race but they will not be eligible to win the main pool of prizes, so don't worry if you see them running along!

Note: These riddles may not be the easiest riddles in the world. This race is for those who enjoy brain teasers or puzzles. They won't be like the simple riddles LoTRO gives you! I will explain the rules again at the start of the race.

Is this intended for individuals only? Is a group proscribed?

It might be fun to run around together if a few of us could break free at that time; and it would be great for someone like me (who doesn't know LOTRO Middle-Earth that well) to tag along and learn. I'm sure I couldn't compete very well alone, but I could come along to protect someone against level 30 mobs if that weren't prohibited.

In any case, it's been a while since I've seen this type of event sponsored in a game I'm playing. That's a good thing.

It sounds like it is an individual race/competition, Echo, but I'm sure there will be friends running with each other.

Landroval has quite a few guilds that organize events and concerts. The LOTRO Landroval forum is a great place to see the notices.
