Yesterday I visited and immediately got a pop up stating I needed virus scanning. Shut the stupid thing down and made sure nothing was installed on my computer. Looks like Grig was right when he said someone must have bought an ad to try and infect visitors. The mal-people are getting bolder and bolder, so surfers beware!

Unless it was a false positive?

At home I use Firefox with both the AdBlock Plus and NoScript add-ons, so I only see the occasional ad when I visit the site at work (Firefox there but no add-ons). Let me know about these things everyone, because chances are I have not run into them. I can't vouch for the security of any ad the Proboards people put up, but hopefully they are on top of things. I bet that's why the ads are disabled...
I'd definitely recommend Firefox browser with AdBlock and NoScript for safer browsing! Or check out Sandboxie to keep your browsing isolated from the rest of your PC. All of this in addition to a solid firewall, antivirus, and antispyware programs.

I've been a Firefox advocate for years; Adblock and NoScript too. My experience has been great with it: faster, safer, better UI ... the whole works. I do a lot of researching, so I particularly love the "find" function on Firefox.
I'm hearing that that Windows 7 speeds up both IE8 and FF 3.0, but that there have been some major freeze ups with the FF3.5 beta version. I guess we'll see. I've also heard that IE8 is a big improvement over IE7 and closer to the Firefox experience, but since I've never used IE8, I couldn't verify that from my own experience.
As a Gmail user, I was also reading about the Gmail Notifier program that runs on Windows 7. It sounds great and the screenshots of it look really cool. Any of you guys use it?
