So, I don't know how many of you have braved the jump to Windows 7 yet, but just a heads up for those that haven't - the default power down settings for Windows 7 are to power off your monitor after 10 minutes of inactivity, and power off your box after 30 minutes of inactivity. I only discovered this after several trips into the computer room to check patching/downloads, where I found my computer was shut off, AGAIN. I lost many, many hours of patching time. For anyone else that runs into the same issue, you can change your default power settings in Windows 7 by going in to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Power Options and choosing Change when the computer sleeps from the left hand menu. Other than that, I'm really thrilled with the ease of upgrading, and with the family pack in general (three computer upgrade version of Windows 7 - conveniently, just the number I need). Also, LotRO is like a different game in DirectX 10. Wow! Cirig

Thanks for the tip, Cirig! I'll be getting a Windows 7 PC next summer when I'm due for a new rig.
LOTRO indeed looks grand in DX10- I stand under trees staring at the moving leaf shadow patterns and take lots of screenshots! *laughs*

I did the initial quests in Archet last night, and got hung up just staring at the water. Pretty water! So ripply! I hardly dared swim in it. I will continue posting my adventures as I set up the other two computers and try out the new media streaming features of Windows 7! (my laptop came with a tv tuner card, so I'm setting it up to use as a PVR as well) Weeee! Cirig
