I am trying to get a feel for Hobbit vs Elf race for the Hunter. The extra agility and increased bow damage of the Elf is tempting, but the extra Morale for the Hobbit would improve survivability. You who have been through this group exercise before: any advice?

I have to admit that I've mostly played humans so far in LOTRO because of the racial trait they can achieve in their upper 30s: a 100% self-heal on a 1-hour timer. That is a fantastic trait!
But since I've played so many humans already, I'm leaning towards Elf this time around for RP purposes.
Both Hobbits and Elves get a stealth trait which is useful...would be a toss-up for me. Go with what you'd like to RP!

Well, it sounds as if an Elf would have the best of it as far as pure damage. But in a group damage can be a double-edged sword (draw aggro from tanks). So I was thinking that better survivability would also be valuable and would take a bit of pressure of the healers from time to time. And I am also thinking that this esteemed group really won't have much trouble killing most things.
That plus I was thinking that a Hobbit's size would give him "great leverage" (as Rakul would say) and some "great shooting angles". He could bypass the protective devices of his foes by putting those arrows up under scales, into armpits, and up noses. ;D
I'll proceed to think through the RP possibilities and perhaps make a couple of characters to test things out a bit.
Thanks
