Just a couple of anecdotes for this:
I sometimes let my little one (5 yo) watch me play. Well the thing is, he is fascinated by the conversations with NPCs and loves for me to read what they say out loud to him (in character I might add!). We just have a blast doing this...the both of us do! It actually adds quite a bit to my enjoyment of the game. I learn a little lore from it too. Sometimes we just roam around talking to NPCs to see what they will say. Fun times. Some times we both get to giggling uncontrollably.
(PS - I do not let him play these games right now in any real sense (he plays Wall E and Mario). But I do let him move one of my alts around in Sanctum from time to time. I think maybe he knows more than I do about Sanctum. A couple of days ago he came to me all sheepish and said, "Dad your character fell way, way down...but he's OK, he landed back at the city dell" I LMAO! )

I used to read all quests I ran, so I could get the story and background. However, lately, I find myself disenchanted with the story lines and have been just skimming them for the most part. Sometimes I don't read them at all.

Same here. There are some lines I enjoy reading, but other than that.... not so much usually.

My son is head "smoosher" for DDO. If there's a crate or barrel on screen, he demands control of the mouse so he can break it, he then gives control back to me to deal with the "baddies" or "bein' sneaky" (AKA "sneak sneak SNEAK.. sneak sneak") or any number of other little things
