Curse.com founder's open Aion letter to NCsoft Korea
From the letter:
Having only reached level 20, I can only comment on certain points. I totally agree that grouping is not rewarding enough. Grouping should have a group experience bonus like DAoC did. Right now there's not much reason to group. Giving an incentive to do so would help, and it would also help build community, something the game needs.
As far as the large-scale PvP crashes go, I haven't experienced them yet, but I've been in Eltnen Fortress with one of my characters and it is very laggy. EF is apparently not instanced like Verteron Citadel is, and the lag makes it difficult to move around (my PC exceeds Aion's recommended specs). So I am worried too about PvP seiges and crowding issues. I don't like stuttering around EF while my PC HD grinds away.
There are a good amount of bots out there, sometimes they interfere with what you need to hunt. If their numbers increase, they could be a pain. They are of course also tied to gold sellers & spammers.
The public plea puts some extra weight behind the biggest complaints many Aion players have been voicing since release, namely: "the grind," spammers/botters, and large-scale PvP performance in fortresses. Statements like "...there are three issues I want to bring to the front page today that need to be addressed or this game will end up being a 300k subscriber game within 6 months, not the one-million+ subscriber game it should be," show just how impassioned Netcurse is about these issues.
What's refreshing is that the author is pointing out potential solutions for each problem he draws attention to. For instance, to combat the grind, he feels XP should be increased and more benefits should be rewarded to social players (groupers). Not everyone is agreeing with his comments in the replies, so we're curious, what are your thoughts?

From the letter:
Letter to Ncsoft Korea
I've been following Aion for nearly 2 years and I am now about to reach level 41 as a Cleric. I've been playing MMOs for nearly 9 years now.
Needless to say, I'm also the founder of Curse.
Regardless of that, there are three issues I want to bring to the front page today that need to be addressed or this game will end up being a 300k subscriber game within 6 months, not the one-million+ subscriber game it should be.
Facts:
* Aion is a good game - very enjoyable and rewarding for the hardcore gamer.
* Aion will fail in keeping the crowd of casual gamers, along with those that can't stomach the grind.
* Aion's 3d engine is performing great, but tens of thousands of players can't play during fortress sieges because of crash issues.
* Grouping is not rewarding enough.
* Spammers and bots are annoying.
* It's about 15-20 days of played time to make 1-50.
