This is really interesting and lines up with what someone and I were talking about a few years ago. It's not the complexity of the password that makes it hard to crack, it's the length. Adding a variety of letters, numbers, upper case, and special characters doesn't really do anything. Adding length increases the likely number of combinations that are possible, thus is the better route. I'm also sure recognizable words play a factor in this. If you password was "ajiifCwoaNh" it would be much harder to crack than "CookieKeens". Both are eleven characters with upper and lowercase, but the latter can be pulled from a bank of known words, which I'm sure is what a hacker would check first.

400 years for me! Although by me saying that, the hacker knows it's 11 characters and it will take less time. heh
