Remember when AoC and WAR were going to be blockbuster MMOs? Well, that didn't happen. I get the strong feeling that the MMO experience has changed from the days of old. The list of poll options above are some of the possible reasons why. Let's hear what you think- you can choose up to 3 poll reasons. If other, please post your explanation.

Ok, I thought I'd throw out my 2 coppers, of course now that I can't see the poll I forget my answers...I think back in the day you had about 3 games to choose from so you picked one and played it, a lot! By playing till 3am five nights a week you bonded with those around you that did the same, thus you created a social network. So now you're at the only show in town and you're their with your friends, there is no place else to go and so why leave, all your friends are there anyway.
Now today you can play about 30 different games and you've got a dozen different games under your belt. You can't even find half your friends and so maybe only a few people you know start a new game with you. So the release doesn't go smoothly and trying to move around the city is a slideshow. Already you've compared it to the dozen other games you've played, maybe something things you like, some things you don't, hell you haven't even played two hours and you're wishing things were different.
No one was bitching about phone service when the only game is town was Ma bell and your corded phone in the kitchen, now you can pull any one of 200 different devices and make a call from nearly anyplace and everyone thinks their carrier sucks.
