Jaema and I are planning on checking out Archeage, which releases September 16th. The game has an extensive housing/farming/trading system which is absent in most MMOs these days. The game is F2P but it sounds like subscribing will be to one's advantage if you want to seriously play. I've had some reservations about the game (and still do) but it sounds like it's worth checking out, particularly the housing/farming/trading system which makes it seem a bit like a virtual world- remember those? Archeage game threadChecking here to see if anyone else is going to try this game, maybe we can play on the same server or join the same guild!

If I'm understanding their systems correctly, I will need to be a Patron in order to fully utilize the farm/housing activities. That aspect of the game is a key interest for me, so I expect to be subscribing monthly which I *think* is how you get that Patron status if you didn't buy one of the Founders packs. The last time I looked there was not specific $$ info yet, but on the forums people are quoting a dev who said something along the lines of "like Rift's" So people are surmising $15 range. There's open beta this coming weekend, 9/4 for anyone who wanted to look around. I was in for a short beta weekend recently so I wasn't surprised to see launch coming soon. It felt like open beta then. Although I am dabbling with Landmark still, I kind of feel like I have a 'game spot' open that I could play around with Archeage. Until I rage quit

I'm thinking of playing it, but I've been playing Diablo 3 a lot since the latest patch. Having trouble tearing myself away at the moment I bought one of those founders packs for ArcheAge a while back and played around with it, seems like it might be good. I often find it hard to get into an MMO if I don't start playing it right near launch, feel left behind. A friend has been playing the account for a while since I haven't been using it, so I assume he's going to be playing it during release as well. The whole housing/boats system looks pretty amazing. I guess I'll have to decide within the next few days whether I'm going to play it or not. Is the open beta going to be wiped, or will headstart players get to keep anything done during that time?

Just as an FYI, Tahyang is the Archeage unofficial RP server. Jaema and I (using our forum names here) are playing there.
Right now there is a new character lock on this server, but Scott Hartsman (head of Trion) expects this situation to be 'temporary'.

I'm on Aranzeb or whatever it is. I've made a few characters now. I tried a Cleric, 25(Vitalism, Songcraft, Auramancy), but had to change out the Auramancy for Witchcraft because it was essentially useless until you're probably max level Also made a Daggerspell, 32(Sorcery, Shadowplay, Witchcraft), that seems alright, the goal was to make it for PvP, but he's much better at PvE as well compared to my Atheme. My Executioner 25ish(Battlerage?, Shadowplay, Occultism) is probably my favorite so far. The animations are great, he's good at killing stuff, and will probably be great in PvP as well. Pretty much all the caster passives are garbage, at least until the really late game ones. Compared to the caster passives, the melee ones appear amazing. I'm looking forward to doing some PvP on my Executioner later on. Probably after I've finally found a place for my Thatched Farmhouse and maybe gotten myself a Clipper Dumped a lot of time on this over the weekend(don't log out, ever!), my friend I was playing with gave up on me, thinks the game is trash. I somewhat agree with him, there's a lot that needs work. Not even talking about queues. If anyone needs access to a Silver Pack account, let me know. I bought it for him to play, but I don't think he's going to anymore. There's a 25 of something on it on Aranzeb. Don't remember the class. Archery/Witchcraft/Occultism maybe.

The queues have been so painful that Jaema and Morr haven't actually been on at the same time yet. So I have the ambitious goal this week of actually getting a little play time, after work, with Morreion, and to maybe do the armor quests and get out of my character creation leather miniskirt "armor"

Each zone seems to have a quest set, which you usually get spread throughout the zone. Uppers, Lowers, then a helm. With a few weapons scattered here and there. It's pretty bland. There's very few items that actually drop from mobs it seems. I went and bought my healer a ball dress or whatever it was from the market, lol. The armor you got from the founders packs actually looks really nice if you buy a dye as well. Seems to glow when it's dark out with runes around the outside of the cloak.
