The Daily Grind: How important is the setting of your MMOs? (Massively)What about you, Massively crew -- how important is the setting of your MMOs? Can it make or break your experience?I'd have to say that setting is important to me to the effect that it is coherent. For instance, I have a HUGE pet peeve with 'genre-bending', which is where settings are inconsistent. The best example of this is ArcheAge, where players fight in armor with swords but also drive race cars and tractors. This really bugs me for whatever reason. Why wield a sword when you could run down your enemies with a race car? Just make the setting make sense, please!

Setting isn't the most important thing to me, but I'm going to have to agree that Archeage is kind of silly in that regard.
The most important thing to me is fun. If it isn't fun, I'm not coming back, no matter how compelling the story or pretty the graphics.
