Starting at level 30, every 5 levels there are places in the world where you can find high-quality gear and good coin if you stumble upon them in remote areas (or check out a guide!). Actually, items are level-capped at those levels, so it makes sense to get them at those particular levels, but I digress- they are a fun and profitable exploration jaunt.
Jaema and I hit 30 and went and did the first batch of level 30 puzzles- found in a hostile fortress in Silverwood, and in the middle of the Lake of Solace (found in enemy territory). Cairns (a generic name for hidden treasures) also dotted the bottom of this lake in the form of crates, chests, coffins, urns, a safe, a skeleton and strongboxes, lost to the depths. Here's some images of the search.
Treasure found at possibly the highest point in Silverwoood- we got there using teleport plaques, using them in a certain order.
The Lake of Solace from the shore near Freemarch, in Defiant (enemy) territory. Make sure you aren't flagged for PvP!
Swimming underwater. Fortunately, my Cleric has a Warden soul that has an underwater breathing spell. There are some nasty marine denizens to watch out for- I died to one.
The lantern puzzle gives you booty if you light all the lanterns before a timer expires as they blink in and out of reality.
Here are several of the sunken treasures we found hidden in the depths. We ran into a couple of other Guardians and a Defiant- we had pleasant encounters with all of them.
Sorting through all of our loot back in Sanctum.
This was quite enjoyable- I received a few purple items of great quality and some blues as well- they were bind on equip so I auctioned what I couldn't use. Rift has a variety of things to do, and variety is good!
