Rift Head Start Opening Day Impressions
Rift started yesterday, and people generally waited on queues for hours. I spent 5 hours waiting to get in (a disconnect that reset my queue position didn't help). Trion had 30 servers to start, though they added more as the day went along. There was some nerd raging on the forums- it got so funny that I spent some of my queue time laughing at all of the lashing out from the trolls, fanboys and ragers!
I demand a refund because now I can't pass my wife
My wife wasn't going to be home until 1pm. Now I can't get 20 levels past her
This is unacceptable as this will make her thoroughly happy and she will pass me while I am at work.

Unable to play because I have a job, GG TRION
Dear TRION!!!
How dare you launch this game KNOWING that some people have jobs and need to work for money, I don't think you should be focusing on servers and queues when you should have made sure today was a world-wide holiday to make sure we could play this game. I am angry! I have paid for this game and the 'free' 'headstart' which 'you' 'provided' 'to' us PAYING CUSTOMERS should have been co-ordinated with us ahead of time! I could have given you my phone number EASILY and you could have called me after my JOB was over to tell me "Ok, 3-2-1-LOG IN NOW TO AVOID THE QUEUES" but no you launched it knowing some people in the Eastern Time Zone have to work. I haven't even attempted to log in yet and I'm going to cancel my account because now I'm ANGRY that I am at work instead of SITTING AT HOME so I can look at the queue numbers. I'm calling for a class action lawsuit against my employer and then maybe you!
Now I'm mad because I've seen so many misspellings of the word queue that I fear for the future of our language!!!!! What is a Que? Quebec? IS THIS GAME SECRETLY OWNED BY THE FRENCH!??!?!! A Q is a letter or an omnipotent being who performs dastardly tricks to space captains, it's not a line-up! DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON A QEEUU I DON'T EVEN HOW DO I DOUBLE BOLD SOMETHING

TRIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
I got in on the Faeblight RP-PvE server, where Gaiscioch were playing on the Guardian side. I rolled up Morreion the Cleric. The character creation tools were good, I was satisfied with the look I got.
Young Morreion starts out as an Inquisitor, adding Warden and Sentinel later on. He's a Mathosian caster/healer hybrid Cleric.
First impressions:
1) The world reminded me of WAR right off the bat- dark, constant strife, a village and some NPCs that looked like WAR's Empire setting.
2) The graphics were beautiful. I had the graphics setting on ultra, and performance was flawless. I never experienced any lag whatsoever. My frame rate was in the 30s when I remembered to check it. I had a good impression of the music, too.
3) The quests were pretty standard stuff. Someone in chat said, I'm both unimpressed and impressed with this game. I can't explain it. I think I understand what they meant- it wasn't unique or new, but it was well-done and solid.
4) The soul system is neat. You start out with one soul, and add 2 more as you quest in the starting area. Think of it as being a multi-class system where you place training points in one of any of your souls when you level up. Don't forget to train up those old skills at trainers!
4) Miscellaneous impressions...lots of players had pets. I couldn't run out of mana if I tried to (at level 6, anyway). I died twice. The UI is pretty good. I received 3 gold spammer tells on day 1! I made it to level 6- I received a quest that would take me out of the starting area.
Now that's a cool-looking mob at level 2!
I've got some better gear now.
There's a lot of nice scenery.
I had NPC help on this quest. Fortunately.
I have a good feeling about the game so far!
