The Daily Grind: How do you like your PvP? (Massively)From my perspective...in theory, FFA PvP is interesting with its potential for player-created social structures, but in practice it's not (ganking lowbies doesn't last long as a system). RvR- different realms fighting each other- is my favorite type of PvP. You get a feeling of us vs. them, a real realm pride. I haven't found anything to beat DAoC's 3-realm RvR yet. 3 realms rather than 2 seem to work better for balance. PvP for me is best in a consensual framework, as well. I'd rather go to a battleground or a zone and know that that's the place for PvP. I also like it in measured doses!

I love my PvP, and I loved the fact that in Warhammer I could completely level through doing nothing but killing my enemy. I even had quests to do so! That was so great, but unfortunately Mythic decided to forego what worked for them, the three realm system (which, for those of you not familiar with Warhammer lore, would have fit perfectly... even four realms!), for a two. This was a big flaw in the game (and there are good and bad things in the PvE as well).
Now, I did love UO PvP. It was exhilarating not knowing if you were going to come back from your mining mission or not. However I think DAoC got it right, with three realms, battlegrounds and a central frontier to PvP in. I loved fighting for your realm.
