A pouty keen sits on the bench

I'm just venting.. short version - I still have limited time to play due to hardware issues.


So... the fan on my video card fails and makes playing anything very difficult. Overheating is a very real problem and limits doing anything fun. Thank goodness I have a very cool computer case that makes playing DAoC possible for awhile!

• 7/30 - I order a new video card, and wait for its arrival.
  
• 8/4 - receive card - hurray!
  
• Card needs a direct power connection inside computer and does not function at all without it
  
• I dig up the box for my modular power supply and find the cord
  
• wrong connections on cord?! bad packaging I didnt notice 5 years ago
  
• spoke to power supply company and they agree to send me a cord free of charge
  
• 8/12 - a week later, no cord.. call back and they never sent one?! they agree to send another
  
• 8/17 - receive cord - hurray!
  
• install video card
  
• fight with drivers and various other things for 4 hours... card does not play games. at all. screen goes black when ANY game is played and computer freezes until rebooted.
  
• call product support, they determine I have a defective card, but have to contact company I purchased from to get replacement
  
• file for RMA
  
• wait for RMA#, web site says 48 hours for reply
  
• scream in frustration and re-install old video card
  

So here I sit pouting on the sidelines bench. Waiting to play with all the other 'kids'. <sighs>

Aww... Dotty. I'm sorry things aren't working out for you. Where did you order your card from, and what type is it? I always get my computer hardware from Newegg. They've never failed me with quick, efficient, and quality service.
