Has anyone else looked into DC Universe Online? It looks freaking amazing. I'm assuming it's going to be a lot like City of Heroes, which bodes well for the game. I have always been a Marvel fan, but I'm considering picking this up and giving it a try, especially since no new MMOs are coming out anytime soon. Apparently Jim Lee created the DCUO world. For those who may not know who he is, he's a comic book artist/writer. He's one of my favorites, and a co-founder of Image Comics, which most of you may have heard of. If you are interested in checking it out, they're taking beta sign ups now. The game is currently slated for release on November 2nd. If you haven't seen it, you should watch the trailer for it. It'll give you goosebumps. www.dcuniverseonline.com/en/movies.vm

I know we were looking for a common game to play. Personally, I'm getting tired of fantasy-based games (hence my playing SC2 so much right now). Maybe this is a good choice for us all?

I'm open to try any MMO, though I know a few people here wanted to play free to play games for financial reasons, so that would be a factor in getting everyone together

Call me naive, but I don't think Superman has EVER melted someone's face with his heat vision!
Bonus points for an evil Superman!
Never mind substituting tar for the unknown ingredient in your synthetic Kryptonite, kill Wonder Woman if you wanna piss the big man off and make him go mean!

DC Universe Online: Launch-day roundup (Massively)DCUO is one of the first MMOs to use action-game mechanics; it also boasts physics that allow you to interact with the environment. Its character creation screens allow you to build a character intended to be modified as the game progresses. And most importantly, DCUO is the first MMORPG to be launched for both the PlayStation 3 and the PC at the same time.DC Universe Online: Launch Preview It's no secret that MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy has been looking forward to this day with great excitement: It's DC Universe Online launch day! In his Launch Preview, Bill outlines the good and the not-so-good about DC Universe Online as he's experienced the game throughout the beta. It's a terrific look at the game and something to give you a step up as you anticipate your own heroic adventures. Check it out!The combat: Some will call it button-mashing; others will call it a revolution. It all depends on what you want from your MMO.DC Universe Online: Launch Day Interview with Chris Cao Now that launch day has finally arrived, DC Universe Online fans can don tights and hop into the game. To celebrate DCUO's launch, MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy had the opportunity to sit down with Game Director Chris Cao to talk about the game, how it's evolved during development, where it may be headed and more. Check it out and then leave us a comment or two below.I then asked Chris how he feels about the apparent divide DCUO is creating across the MMORPG community. It seems, probably more than most games, that players either love DCUO for trying to offer something new or get put off by it for the same reason.DC Universe Online - Tour of Gotham City (Ten Ton Hammer) Step into the gloomy alleys and byways of Gotham City and learn the secrets of its many neighborhoodsThis offshore retreat is home to perhaps one of the most infamous structures in all of Gotham City - the Arkham Asylum. Tread lightly, as the inmates are running amok (as usual) and they don't take kindly to interference. The minions of Mr. Freeze are only one of the hazards heroes will have to contend with.DC Universe Online: Heroes vs. Villains In his latest DC Universe Online column, Bill Murphy goes into a bit more detail about the PvP system that the game will employ. It's good enough, in fact, that Bill opines that he adores fighting other players. Find out why in Bill's DCUO column. Let us know what you think about DCUO PvP by commenting below. In my experience, the PvP instances have actually been quite hectic and fun. There’s something exhilarating about combat in DCUO when it’s done competitively that takes it a notch above other MMOs. It’s hectic, it’s crazy, and when done organized it’s an absolute blast. The downside is, just like in any match-made PvP game, when it’s not organized it’s hectic, it’s crazy, and it’s an exercise in frustration. It’s like any sport or competitive team game really.DC Universe Online: Does It Live Up to the IP (MMORPG.com) This weekend, Drew Wood has taken a look at how DC Universe Online incorporates the IP, and fans thereof, into the locales of Metropolis, Gotham City and beyond.Gotham City is the dark epicenter of crime and punishment that anyone who has ever picked up a Batman comic would expect. It's always dark. It's always gritty. It seems like there's always some by-stander in the night screaming for aid. As a hero, needless to say, sometimes it feels like you're not doing your job enough. The villainy is palpable.Bring it on: DCUO launches new PvP servers (Massively)We can only assume it's a good day for Sony Online Entertainment when demand for its new superhero MMO, DC Universe Online, creates a need for more servers.Great Moments In Customer Service Pt.
