The Daily Grind: What RP tools would you like to see? (Massively)
It amazes me when games release (like WAR) without such basic things as your character being able to sit down. The fact that that kind of thing happens these days shows you how far that RP has sunk in mainstream MMOs. Back in DAoC you could sit cross-legged on the ground at least, and the emotes were nice.
LOTROs music system is cool, I'd like to see more done with that.
Say what you will about WoW, at least they let you interact with the furniture. WoW gives you a good amount of RP tools.
RP servers would be beneficial, even if they were totally unmonitored. At least give a way to indicate to players where Rpers may be gathering.
An open emote system, interacting with furniture, placeable objects in the game world, plenty of clothing and character customization options are all good.
There's always a certain amount of content in any given game that doesn't actually do anything for your character's abilities and advancement, but is fun and helps to create an RP environment -- fluff, in other words. So whether you're a hardcore RPer or a casual gamer, what RP tools would you like to see (or see more of) in MMOs? Would you prefer more abilities to craft unique objects or play music? Would you like to see cosmetic outfits cross over into your MMO? Should developers put in more RP-friendly locales, such as stages and meeting halls, to encourage RP functions? What about tools to allow players to run their own special events?
