The List: Bill's Five Favorite MMO Classes (MMORPG.com)It's an interesting list: I do like unique classes. For some reason I think back on the Skald from DAoC- they were a great utility class with excellent group runspeed and a useful CC, to counterbalance that they were less well-armored than others and decent but not strong fighters. Maybe I'm a sucker for utility, but I liked how WoW handled their Mage class- they could manufacture food and drink to replenish health and mana for themselves and others as well as teleport characters to other major cities. I'm sure I'll think of other examples after I post this!

My favorite class is the mana mentalist from DAoC. They could heal, HoT, DoT, DD, power buff, pet with extra perks (piggy purge!) and the ultimate benefit - KEEN! The lurikeen is probably the most important. ;D
Too bad the DoTs busted any CC that was used, and healing increased to make their damage laughable. I still remember defending keeps, popping out of hiding and scattering AEDoTs all over the enemies before ducking back into cover and giggling... madly-evil giggling.
All other classes in other games have paled in comparison. I had high hopes for the WAR shaman, but I couldnt get to the endgame. The WoW shaman isnt bad. With luck the new kobolds will have nice animations. Yeah, I'm picky about strange things...like what my character looks/moves like since I will be staring at them for hours.
I miss my keen. <pouts>

To put your mind at ease Dotty, WAR shamans were great in the end game. Actually, they were great all the way through. I had a lot of fun on mine.
I like utility classes too. One of my favorite being my warden in DAoC. Hunters were great in WoW. They could do almost everything but heal themselves (use all kinds of weapons, do damage close or from afar, had a pet, etc.).

I didn't know you had a Warden in DAoC, Rego! What was your name?
I liked my Warden once I got over the fact that I was a support/utility character and I wasn't going to get lots of killspam (although the Battlewarden track in ToA helped). I absolutely loved all of that utility.

Really? You talked to me on him. His name was Kelldros. After finally realizing they weren't going to fix archers anytime soon, and heading over to Midgard for a while, I took him on up to 50 RR6+. I liked my Warden once I got over the fact that I was a support/utility character and I wasn't going to get lots of killspam (although the Battlewarden track in ToA helped). You didn't get kill spam? You weren't playing him right then. What you do is go out with your buddies, and as they are killing people, drop TWF. You get all the killspam. ;D I regularly teamed with a friend of mine who ran a BM. We'd duo most of the time, but sometimes we'd pick up a few other friends (usually a mana chanter and vamp), so he'd switch to his bard and we'd wreck some havoc on those poor Albs.
