Sinaedh, how is DAoC doing these days? Is the Ywain "experiment" working out reasonably well for the game? There are times when I miss it greatly. There is still a soft spot in my heart for those times. I remember quite fondly the first time I saw this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUunCoDXVRA

SI was my favorite expansion to DAoC- improved the graphics, added on additional territory but kept the classic core of the game intact

There is still a soft spot in my heart for those times. Ah well, I don't particularly like TOA (in fact, I've been known to say I hate it) so I'm not really happy with Ywain. I liked the Classic servers better. There seems to be an overabundance of Mids now who are pretty good at RvR (and I'm playing Mid, so sometimes I get to play with them). Albs, as usual, are the overpopulated realm. And Hibs... well, you know, Hibs just are the red-headed stepchild. I don't play as much as I used to. It was the people who made the game, in my view. Most of those are gone. There are still some good folk around, but the population has changed a lot in terms of goals and playstyle.

<responding to the last two posts>
Shrouded Isles: Indeed this was a great upgrade graphically and the expansion content was topically plausible (unlike subsequent expansions). It also brought with it several features/by products that I think were among the more detrimental to the game in the long run (farming classes and spellcrafting being the two main ones). The SI patch and the patches for about 6 months on either side of it were (in my minority opinion) the beginning of the decline of DAoC.
Yes Sinaedh, ToA was a disaster on many levels. I must be honest, I am still drawn to play once in a while...very strongly. Each time I struggle to connect with the game and its players and end up drifting away again. There's a few old guard around, but they are very few and far between. So are you still with Ukjent Fryct (sp) or Kampvjila (sp) when you do play Mids?
