Project V13 is the codename of an unannounced massively multiplayer online game being developed by Interplay and Masthead Studios. Chris Taylor, one of the creators of Fallout, is one of the lead developers. Jason Anderson, one of the other makers of Fallout, was involved in the project between 2007 and 2009, but has since left the team.

While not officially announced as such yet, it is believed to be Fallout Online, nicknamed FOOL by the fans, an MMORPG set in the Fallout world, since Interplay licensed the rights to such a game after selling the rights to Fallout to Bethesda Softworks and since the makers of the original Fallout are involved. The rights are currently the subject of a legal dispute between Bethesda and Interplay.

Court Denies Bethesda's Motion To Block Interplay Fallout Activity (Gamasutra)

A U.S. District Court judge denied Bethesda's motion for a preliminary injunction against publisher Interplay this week over a dispute involving licensing for the popular Fallout RPG franchise.

The ruling means that for the time being, Interplay will be able to continue selling Fallout Trilogy, a bundle that includes 1997's Fallout, 1998's Fallout 2, and 2001's Fallout Tactics, as well as the individual games themselves.

It also means that Interplay can continue to work on the Fallout MMO, a work-in-progress dubbed Project V13 that can exist because of a licensing deal that Bethesda struck with Interplay. Bethesda bought the Fallout property from Interplay in 2007 for $5.75 million.

"Interplay president Eric Caen told British gaming magazine Edge Magazine that despite the legal tussle surrounding the title, Fallout Online will be released, in beta form, in the first half of 2012. He followed that up by stating that the title will be released commercially during the second half of that year."
