An Avalonian Wizard! That brings back memories... I played all of the Albion classes save for Wizard, but I have this strong memory of being a Cleric in a group in the Barrows, deep down to the lowest level. We were there for quite a while, camping a room where these particularly nasty things would pop. We had this Wizard with us. He would cause tremendous damage- and unfortunately, he would get aggro at times. He could take 2, maybe 3 hits and he was dead. This happened sometimes very quickly; if 2 mobs got on him, it was all over, regardless of my healing efforts. He died several times down there in the depths; I kept ressing him, the group would sometimes apologize to him, but he stuck in there- even with losing experience, he still came out ahead, because it was a good spawn. The DAoC Wizard was the ultimate 'glass cannon' class. I also remember meeting an Avalonian Cleric on Percival, and as far as I know he was the only Avalonian I ever saw playing that class. My Cleric was a Highlander, like many were. Avalonians were physically fragile but had powerful mental powers. He said he picked the class for roleplaying reasons. Loendal, your story took me back!

One of my many Kul clerics was Avalonian... I think I had 3, maybe 4. DAoC was my first MMO love. I had 5 accounts, 4 active at one time! I believe almost all of them had no slots available too, save 1.

The story reminded me of part my time in Albion also. I was in an Albion RP guild in Classic for a while in which one of the leaders "three-boxed" a Paladin, a Cleric, and an Ice Wizard. He'd buff, pull and AoE things faster than I could get in position. Despite his botting on a Classic server, which didn't set too well with me, he was a dedicated RPer. He was also a bit of an iconoclast and ran a lot of people off...including myself eventually. I did respect the guy in many ways however, and I'll tell you this ... he could play three characters at the same time better than I could play one...with ease... and for the most part keep them all in character.
Before that, one of the first characters I made in DAoC was an Avalonian Wizard...back when Campy Forest was the starter area. That area was really the "forest primevil" for a player so new to the game. Somewhat depressing actually. It took me forever just to get the silver to make it up to Cotswold and Camelot. Lot's of grinding in the game back then. But the character was interesting to play...I think Faralinde was her name. She was more or less abandoned when I moved to Hib Nimue circa the time of SI.

Yeah, I liked classic a lot. You had to work for what you got... and even had to save for a horse ride, because most of the time you were behind on armor/weapons and were happy to see ANYTHING drop. heh

I remember how hard it was to save that first 5 silver to take my first ride from Campy Forest up to the East Camelot Gates. When that horse rolled out of the dark forest into the Camelot Hills it was like the Sun just rose over a beautiful vista. It was so hard to get that 5 silver that I wondered if I'd ever get the coin to come back and finish my quests. Ah, good memories though.

Ok, this is bad. Now I'm getting for lack of a better word, homesick, and I only played in Albion a handful of times.
