Ex-Activision veterans form Audacity Games to develop Atari 2600 titles (NME)

A co-founder and two ex-game designers from Activision have joined forces to form Audacity Games, a company dedicated to the Atari 2600.

The original Atari 2600 was released in 1977 and experienced a huge boost in sales during the ‘80s when Space Invaders was released. Fans of the retro console have since crafted emulators like Stella and Retron which run the games through an ordinary PC.

David Crane, one of Activision’s co-founders, has teamed up with Dan and Garry Kitchen, a pair of game designers he met while at his old company. Their goal is to create games that will run on the Atari 2600 under the banner of Audacity Games.

They'll run on the Atari 2600, plus they come with a digital version.

Sounds good to me! I'll certainly play them.

Lately my children (5 and 6) have been playing Nintendo games on the NES mini they came out with a few years ago. I like that they get excited over SMB, Dr. Mario, LoZ, Metroid, and the like. I found a SNES mini on Ebay that I purchased. I'm going to give it to them for Christmas.

Nooo! How could you?! I still have mine (actually was my dad's, as I wasn't born yet ). I found it in my parents garage about a year ago. I've been meaning to find some connectors for it so I can plug it up to my TV. I'll also need to find a second controller. One of these is most certainly fried.
