So, I NEVER thought I would like these two games. Conan Exiles is loosely based on, of course, the story of Conan the Barbarian; and ARK has lots of dinosaurs. I didn't think I'd enjoy role playing in either one. But my son convinced me to try ARK, which I really ended up enjoying; which led me to try Conan for a bit, as a lot of the developers from ARK were involved with creating that game. Players mostly use the in-game voice ability to communicate, however the Conan server I mention was one of the rare few that used text. I did find a role play server for Conan, but while the players were very friendly, good role players and helpful, it became a very dark storyline. Not into that anymore . Beautiful game and has the crafting and building I have come to adore, but the game has a definite end point, where you can either choose to complete it and your character is gone forever; or not, and then just continue to hang out. You can also play a single player version. For group play, I played ARK on a small, private, regular server. It was a lot of fun, hard learning curve (you die A LOT at first), and I ended up having a TON of pets! The building and crafting is amazing, and the mod creators are fantastic, too. With the free DLC that was just released, I just play the single player version so I can experiment with more of the building. So, I'll post pics of both. Games are becoming incredibly more beautiful every year. I can't wait to see what comes up next! Ari

Very nice all around. I love the look of both of them! ARK seems a little more different and probably the one I'd try first, of the two.
Thanks for sharing, Ari!

Thanks! I like ARK the best, yes, and once you buy the game there is no monthly fee. I've never played on the official servers, just privately owned, but I hear the pvp ones have some helpful players if you're just starting out. There is an ARK role play server, that I played on for awhile, that has been extensively modded and is set in the 1880's old West. It's called "Gunsmoke" and the dinosaurs have been modded into horses, cows, rattlesnakes, etc. and you play as cowboys/cowgirls, bandits, sheriffs, judges, etc. It was fun, had a lot of good role players, and the environment was very old West. I left when a bunch of very racist griefers managed to get through the application process and wreaked havoc for a couple of days by breaking all the rules and terrorizing the server. They were eventually killed off by a player posse (and subsequently banned), but it was so stressful. Forgot to give kudos to Aaron Longstaff and his ARK YouTube videos! He is an architect and shares his amazing plans and creations that have helped me build all the things . See you tonight! Ari
