Free Classic DAoC server

"Good evening my fellow Percivalians,

A new 'Classic' DAoC server is launching on Saturday morning next week (At 6AM EST). It is a free to play server hosted by some DAoC enthusiasts. It is fair to expect around 2000-4000 average population for quite a while. If you have played a free server before this one is easily the most professionally done (WAY better than Genesis was and more user friendly than Uthgard).

This server is set to the 1.65 patch level (shortly after SI launched) with a number of custom changes. Here are some of the most notable changes:

1. Old Frontiers with New Frontiers RAs

2. A number of custom changes to RAs to make them more balanced as they were not perfect when first launched. Also, as there is no ToA here some changes to keep the balance.(charge for light tanks works differently as there is no speed warp/caster speed).

2. A lot of tweaks have been made to the XP rate to make it so casuals can get to 50 in just a couple days of regular playtime. During the stress test this weekend the 'hardcore' players got to 50 in less than 24 hours. The regular folks took the whole weekend.

3. Certain classes that were out of favor (paladins, valewalkers, thanes, champs) with the RVR focused community have been tweaked in order to make them more viable in setups.

I've set up an account and helped test. But characters are going to be cleared, so if anyone is going to play please let me know what realm. I'm leaning towards Hibernia, but Albion isn't far behind. Although, I really don't mind any realm.

Nope. I liked it too... just as much (if not more, at times) than RvR.

But, 48 hours to 50 is their projection. I know my played time was well above that, but I also RPed and explored a lot.

Maybe, but, as we've discussed numerous times, the type of player who started this who MMO thing isn't the type of player that keeps it going at this point; we all grew up! LOL

I don't know if you remember or not, but leveling circa SI was tedious and took a very, very long time. And that was at fins!

I think it took my first level 50 (Gack the Warden) 7 months. Of course I RPed and explored like Kul mentioned. It was a glorious 7 months. Admittedly, I've been through it before, so shortening that time up may make some sense today...
