Saga of Lucimia offers a glimpse into the alpha and its world history (MOP)
...Saga of Lucimia is one such game. If you’re interested in this “hardcore fantasy” MMORPG, then you probably haven’t been starving for news and insight into the game’s creation. The devs have flooded the community with videos as of late, including one talking about the game world’s history and others showing off the adventures of alpha testers.
Saga of Lucimia shows off its dynamic weather systems (MOP)
Indie hardcore sandbox Saga of Lucimia has a brief video out today on its dynamic weather system. It’s dark — we’re beginning to think it’s always dark in Lucimia, even in “late afternoon” — and the scene is a cottage, windows aglow, in a wooded valley deluged by a gentle thunderstorm. And… that’s it. All teasing aside, hooray for weather systems in MMORPGs.
Saga of Lucimia stares deeper into the darkness in a new video (MOP)
Previous videos have established that darkness will make seeing things much more difficult, while this one covers the idea of the radius of light around your character. While you can see well enough around you if you’re holding up a torch, anything outside of the torch’s radius will be shrouded in darkness, a definite downside if you’re adventuring in the Land of Hungry Wolves and can’t be back to civilization by suppertime.
Saga of Lucimia explains its pillar of group gameplay in-depth (MOP)
One of the pillars that Saga of Lucimia prides itself upon is the idea of group-based gameplay. You may think that this is an odd hill to die upon, seeing as how there are a massive number of MMOs focused around group activities at the top level and basically no MMOs that have no rewarding content for groups to take part in. You may, however, belong to the opposite camp and long for a world where all questing, leveling, and even walking between towns requires a full group (including one poor sod with the unenviable role of “torch monkey”).
Saga of Lucimia eschews LFG tools to foster community (MOP)
“This is probably one of the more controversial aspects of what we’re doing,” the team said in a new dev video. “We’re not using an instant dungeon finder or an instant group finder. And that has scared a lot of people […] We’re not using one in our game, why? Because for us, community is everything.”
