Anyone else buying this? I bought it last night, after watching some streams of it. Looks a lot like SimCity, but with bigger areas to build in. Which is one of the main reason I stopped playing SimCity Played a bit of Tropico 5 recently, but couldn't get into it like I did with Tropico 4. Not sure what the problem with it is honestly, lol.

Looks good! I like these types of games... Cities: Skyline (official site)'A modern take on the classic city builder'Releases today! Cities: Skylines (Wikipedia)Cities: Skylines focuses on city-building simulation through urban planning. Players control zoning, road placement, taxation, public services, and public transportation of an area. Gameplay is open-ended, touted as "endless sandbox gameplay across massive maps."[7] Player-determined civic policies can affect the development of the entire city or individual districts thereof.
Roads can be built straight or free-form and the grid used for zoning adapts to road shape; cities need not follow a grid plan. Roads of varying widths (up to major freeways) accommodate different traffic volumes, and variant road types (for example roads lined with trees) offer reduced noise pollution or increased property values in the surrounding area at an increased cost to the player.
Modding, via the addition of user-generated content such as buildings or vehicles, is to be supported in Skylines; the creation of an active content-generating community is an explicit design goal. This content will be available for download from the Steam Workshop.

I'll go look at that dortmunder. I used to love the Sim City games but didn't care much for the last version which among other faults is too small as you mentioned.
I haven't played my Tropico 4 in a while but I hesitated to buy 5 because of very mixed reviews and never did find a compelling reason to upgrade that.

Yeah, the new SimCity wasn't very good. Had some cool stuff in it, but it wasn't good enough to keep me playing I only got to play Cities: Skylines a bit before work today, so don't know what I'm doing yet. It seems you start in a small area like SimCity, but can purchase more and more areas to expand on the small one. The streams I was watching had some pretty big cities going. I wouldn't recommend bothering with Tropico 5, 4 was better imo.

I've been following Skylines for a little while now, I really want to get it too. It looks like everything SimCity could have been; I enjoy SimCity, but you're right. It has quite a few limitations to it.
