Destiny (Wikipedia)
Destiny is an upcoming massively multiplayer online action role-playing first-person shooter video game in a "mythic science fiction" open world setting. It is developed by Bungie and published by Activision as part of a ten-year publishing deal. The game will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One video game consoles on September 9, 2014, with a beta testing phase coming in July. The beta will launch first on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Bungie demoed live gameplay footage of Destiny at Sony's E3 2013 conference.
Bungie: Destiny is different 'every time you experience it' (Massively)
Destiny's plot revolves around humanity's quest to recover the artifacts of the Golden Age and find redemption in the post-apocalyptic wastelands that its brazen rush for advancement has created. Dague explained that Destiny is about making choices, with one of the most important being the class you decide to play. Whether it's the tanky Titan, the stealthy Hunter, or the magic-y Warlock, class selection will determine how you interact with the world, and groups with mixed classes will see greater success.
According to Dague, the dynamic world of Destiny and its reliance on inter-player reactions ensure that no two playthroughs are the same. Bungie is expecting the game to have a very long life cycle due to the idea that "the game is completely dynamic and will be different every time you experience it with other people."

Faceware Technologies uses a "markerless" motion capture system to quickly scan and analyze actors' faces and record those expressions. Destiny artists can then take those expressions and put them on the game's models. Bungie previously worked with Faceware on Halo: Reach.
Kotick says Destiny is a '$500 million bet' [Update: Beta coming in July] (Massively)
Is Destiny the most expensive game ever made? Time will tell, but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick intimated that total development and marketing costs for Bungie's sci-fantasy shooter epic may reach half a billion dollars.
"If you're making a $500 million bet you can't take that chance with someone else's IP. The stakes for us are getting bigger," Kotick said. According to Gamasutra and Reuters, an Activision spokesperson said that Kotick's estimate includes marketing, packaging, infrastructure, support, royalties, and other costs.

Destiny opens pre-orders and pre-loading (Massively)
Looking forward to getting into Destiny when it launches on September 9th? Then go ahead and pre-order it on your PlayStation 4, and you'll be able to pre-load the game before launch. No, really; Destiny is the first title on the PS4 to support pre-loading, allowing you to have the game installed and ready to play once the launch happens. It's in the PlayStation Store on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as of today.
Players who pre-order the title will also have access to the game's beta once it starts up in July.
