My longest-running RP character, 2002-2004. He was a big Firbolg, not handsome but a sturdy ally in a fight, modest and level-headed (with quite a few hot-headed acquaintances).
I found a backstory I wrote for him:
Created in in April 2002, he was my 2nd character on the Nimue RP server. He co-founded Taithe na Manadh guild, and co-GMed Hounds of Morrigan. He reached level 50- max level- in November 2002 in an 8-man Darkness Falls group.
His good friend Mabh put together a group to go get him his epic armor- something he was reluctant to do, not wanting to impose upon others. Several people helped him, and he soon was in his new armor.
He became an ML10 Battlewarden in 2004, after grueling months of Master Level raids. It was tough to do, but it was a good feeling to accomplish this.
Gack was happiest on the journey to a goal, not gaining much enjoyment out of simply being at the destination at long last.
Gack in his fashionably dyed black epic armor
I found a backstory I wrote for him:
"Aaye! Yeh, my story begins in the wilds of Hibernia, where I lived as a lad with my parents.
I grew up a free spirit, roaming the land, seein' the sights.
One day, a band of Celts approached our humble turf home. My folks welcomed them with food, but were foully murdered. Ya see, they were brigands, sworn to no law but that of their own bloodlust.
As I ran crying from my home, I ran into another Celt. I screamed, but this Celt looked at me with pity. For you see, he was a member of a nameless Druid commune who lived in the hills not too far away. I had seen them but a few times before, they kept to themselves to better shelter from the hardness of the world.
I was taken in by these good people, and raised by them. When I was a young firby lad, I chose to be a Naturalist, due to the kindly influence of the Druids. Yet I chose to become a Warden, which I thought better befitted my large size and strength. And I had a plan, ya see.
The Druids had taught me the way of Balance- that all things shall end in a Stasis, though there be temporary imbalances in the Web of Being. They sought to interfere as little as possible in the Web.
That was their way.
But I wanted a sooner Balance- and meh prayers were answered in a dream. In the dream, a Nature Spirit showed me where the Celtic bandits were who slew my folks. I prepared to set out to slay them.
The Druids disapproved of my act, and refused to disturb the Web.
I came upon their camp, high up in the hills. The 5 brigands looked at me and laughed. I said nothing, but drew my sword, having already started my magical chant. The leader looked into my eyes, and saw the calmness of Equilibrium in me, and he wavered.
I set upon him, sword flashing, as they ran forward, weapons flashing. I resolved to take as many as I could with me before I died. I took a few blows, and saw my death approaching, when suddenly,
Natures Magic ran through me! The Celtic Druid who had found me after the massacre of my parents had followed me and was aiding me with healing powers. Renewed, I set upon the evildoers.
I saw the fear in their eyes as they were rooted to the spot, and died as they had lived, total cowards.
After all were dead, I bowed to my benefactor. He told me he must do penance for such an act, and would leave the commune. I told him that the Balance had been restored, and he had merely took an active part in returning the Stasis. He gave a small smile, bowed, and strode off, into the deep wildlands. Tears stung my face.
So, for a Firby, I tend to enjoy the com'pny of humans more than others of my kind- all are capable of both evil and good, and I have benefited from the good.
The Balance is the best we can aim for, and I am glad to be a part of it."
