Those who played DAoC remember the graphic effect and sound that happened when one leveled- this was a grand display of 'you did it!' which was always great to see. We called leveling 'dinging', do players still use that term? Sheesh I'm getting old! I remember this image clearly. Dectera the Champion dings 50 in the Shrouded Isles expansion area, accompanied by Hardestadt the Champion and Rhiam the Mentalist (and a hidden 4th character, possibly Daffyd the Bard). I wanted to make sure I got a screenshot of the ding, and I did. Those were the days. |

I remember the patch when they added that! I'd thought it was after SI too, but judging by those tree graphics it must have been before?
The first time I saw it I was in a group and everyone was like WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOA. After that, everyone always knew when someone was getting close to a level and expecting the graphic, so when it showed up with the big icons flying in it felt like the whole group achieved something.

I remember the first time I saw it. It was beside the Parth farm outside of Mag Mel.

I think that's SI- memory tells me that was in Hybrasil (the Hib expansion area) with all of those ugly ogre-type things.

Yes, it's the Hibernia side of the Shrouded Isle expansion. I know those loincloth-wearing trolls anywhere (I had bad experiences with them).
