Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga

despite its share of budget-title hiccups, I really liked this game. The dialog is very well written and perfectly balanced between conveying drama with lots of side jokes. Combat tends to be either too easy or too hard but it's mostly fun. The story's good despite about a million plotholes. The Belgian art style of realistic models and textures is a welcome break from American studios trying to copy the cartoony look of WoW. Definitely worth the $10 Steam will sometimes sell it for. My total playtime to came to 40 hours.

The whole thing reminded me a lot of European power metal music- grand sublime vistas, exaggerated epic characters, spots of irony, a legitimate understanding of the basics of medieval culture- cheap fun with honest intentions!... something that feels rarer and rarer from USA studios looking to tap our comfort zones

i'm not posting anything from the final cinematic but if you're not gonna play the game you should just watch it, it is SO CUTE;



really what more can you ask from a western fantasy rpg than church bells, heroic companions waving to a cheering crowd, and your character in dragon form flying off into the happily ever after

Oddly enough, I was listening to power metal while reading this. Hammerfall to be exact. Actually... for me, that's not odd. I listen to a lot of power metal. LOL
