Housing in LOTRO was interesting- there was an instanced neighborhood where your neighbors lived, and the neighborhood and the housing looked nice. However, the item placement in the houses left something to be desired (note the chairs stuck to walls when you sat in them). The mailbox out front and the ability to decorate yards was neat. I was happy at the time with the addition of DX10 dappled shadows- notice the shadow of the trees out in the yard.
