Why MMORPGs Suck: the Community
So what's the deal here? We get that WAR is this PVP-centric game that focuses on large scale battles, but this also means that any attempt at organization inevitably devolves into mindless swarming as most players just hang around to farm renown points (PVP experience). Needless to say, if you try to play the game seriously, you're going to get frustrated. Likewise, if you don't play the game seriously, you're going encounter the frustration of the self-described elites who troll the upper level of PVP renown with hundreds of hours logged to their characters.
Calling "lesser" players noobs and retards isn't going to improve their playing abilities, nor is it going to encourage them to listen to your instructions regardless of how good a raid leader you may be. There's a major difference between encouragement and deprecation and most players who play the game don't have time to put up with your ****.
Guess what, guys? It's just a game. Nobody cares if you played DAOC for 3 years running, nor do they care if you lead a raiding guild in a launch-day server in World of Warcraft. No one wants to hear about your vast experience in Shadowbane or Lineage II. It doesn't matter.
The thing about MMORPGs is that each of them is sufficiently different in gameplay mechanics that being good at one of them never actually translates to being good at another. Unlike the first person shooter or the real-time strategy game, the only thing that MMORPGs share in common with each other is their forced grind gameplay mechanic, but I digress.
There is no "skill" in playing an MMORPG. None. You have no bragging rights. It takes about as much skill to play an MMORPG as it does to eat a bag of cheetos. Chances are if you're playing an MMORPG "seriously", you'll be doing just that. But before you decide to rage against me, just know that I've got no problem with anyone who plays them.
In general, there's really no call in acting like a dick. It's just a damn game.
