www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9091768This is something I have been putting together for a while, and said I would post it up here. I had to break it into pieces as it wouldn't fit on that site as one big piece.

Thanks Now if only someone would make a game like it, rather than continuing to pump out the garbage we're seeing lately

I'm glad you posted this, dortmunder! Good read! UO was my first MMO, and I am to this day shaking my head that other MMOs haven't incorporated more features from that classic game. DAoC's PvP system- limited to certain regions, captureable territory, RvR to build realm pride- was first-rate. I'm not a huge PvPer but enjoyed RvR a lot. Combine UO's guild warfare with this system somehow and that would be icing on the cake I agree 100% on an open world design. This is probably my biggest complaint with MMOs today- easy linear themeparks get very old. Exploration should be a game in and of itself!

Asheron's call had a pretty good collision detection system for PVE content. I remember many a dungeon raid where a wall of tanks would block a corridor protecting the healers and casters against waves of creatures (especially Olthoi in the caverns). It would certainly cut down on the pass through cheats in combat. (And yes, I read the whole thing )
