Milegate RvR, DAoC 2002-2004

In DAoC, there were 3 kinds of open RvR to experience- open-field battles, keep sieges, and milegate actions (relic captures could be added as a 4th if you like). Milegates were chokepoints in the frontier that funneled players through narrow areas that could be contested, sort of an experience between a keep siege and an open-field battle. Scouts would often be around these places to alert their forces of any enemy movements. They were notorious places to be jumped by stealthers (of either the assassin type or the archer type). They were just plain fun to have battles at. The milegates in Hibernia were particularly contested- Albion was very hilly and Midgard, well, maybe Midgard was just a bit cold or less colorful? That left Hibernia's green and pleasant land to frolic in- go fighting on the golf course, so to speak!
