Aika Online official site
Aika Game Review (MMOhut)
Aika is a PvP heavy free fantasy MMORPG that closely resembles the PvP elements in pay to play MMORPGs like Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the game’s Realm vs Realm battles is that the game can handle up to 1000 vs. 1000 battles, which is quite a feat as the game has beautiful graphics and effects. Aika is actually one of the first free to play MMORPGs with a large scale Realm vs Realm system and the first to actually have solid, genuinely fun gameplay. With many playable classes, a unique ‘Pran’ pet system and many more interesting features, Aika is certainly well worth checking out.
First Impressions: Aika Online (Massively)
Castle Sieges are the most interesting to me, being that the end result of the winning guild is that they will "rule" the winning Nation, and will even win rights to have their Grand Marshal speak to everyone in the nation at will. It was intriguing, and pretty amusing, to watch as the Grand Marshal (named "Lolli...something") went back and forth with players from the chat as they discussed (loosely, very loosely) the tax rate. He warned them that he could raise it to 99 percent, and then continued to give them directions.
Aika: Five Nations Interview (MMORPG.com)
Aika Community Manager Christina Kelly answered a number of our own Garrett Fuller's questions about the five nations in the upcoming MMO.
The nation descriptions, flags, names, and forums combined with the in-game nation-based mechanics have already gone a long way towards giving many players a sense of national identity and pride. We already have some very active guilds and guild leaders maneuvering to take charge of their nations' affairs, and the different ways in which these power struggles develop within each nation make each nation's community distinctive.
Aika's lead nation system kicks in without warning (Massively)
The short version is that when a nation is determined (via automatic processes) to be in the lead, it is no longer capable of forming alliances and is kicked out of any existing alliances. This has met with some resistance from Aika's players both in the news post and in threads on the official forums, as it essentially broke an alliance without warning or any explanation at the time.
