I definitely prefer the former. Detailed descriptions are fine and dandy, there's a time and need for them. But, the latter is being verbose... we wouldn't know her thoughts/desires/hopes/dreams, etc. Only what we see.

This paragraph long descriptive form is why I've stopped text roleplaying. I just couldn't handle it. And in one group, it was turn based... in other words, I had to wait my turn to respond to the paragraphs (Tolkienesce, I called them) of noninteresting (to me) verbiage. Does a red dragon sit and wait to respond? Crikey! I prefer short, succinct descriptions of what I'm doing and what others around me are doing. And yes, there is hypersensitivity lately (it seems to me) about being the 'bad guy'. There are still some who do it well, but they are rare. Alas, gone are the good old days. In reality, I assume roleplay still happens well somewhere, but I'm simply too old to find it.

Very long and detailed descriptive passages sound like they would be better expressed in writing than in RP. Writing is fine!
