PC Gamer is enthralled with Minecraft. They've done alot to help it's promotion. I've been following The Minecraft Experiment, it's some great reading. www.pcgamer.com/tag/the-minecraft-experiment/I think I may try this method of playing. Perhaps I'll save World5 for my own Experiment

Oh yeah, I remember reading about this guy a while back. It's pretty cool what he's doing. On the other hand, I don't think I would want to do that. That's a lot of effort with nothing to show for it (other than, obviously, the experience).

That's a lot of effort with nothing to show for it (other than, obviously, the experience). I don't know... I suppose that's the point. If you can play one life / one world and create something spectacular, I suppose it would mean alot more. Though with the way things tend to go from time to time and the unfairness of some in-game situations, it might be a frustration. Extra caution would certainly be the status quo! Edit: Plus, it's apparently the way Notch plays.. How's that for a kick in the arse?

I can't believe Notch plays his game giving how much time he probably has spent developing it. You'd think he'd play something else in his spare time.

He plays SuperMeatBoy and a few more commercial games apparently. You've never created a game, have ya? You can't resist the urge to jump in and poke around in the thing you create, it's irresistible! I always tend to start visualizing the lines of code that are running a particular function in the game. It's kind of a nice feeling. I can only imagine the warm fuzzy one gets from seeing other people play what you created and actually enjoying it! He's also hard-coded something into the server software so that if he logs in to a server, his name goes yellow and if he dies, there's an off-chance it'll drop a golden apple there. There's video proof of the name thing and I'm not sure of the golden apple, that might just be a rumor. Ah the power of the creator!

Actually, I created a FPS space-flight game as my senior project for my bachelor's degree in art school. Although it was extremely limited and by no means anything like Minecraft. If I had created Minecraft, I would probably play it a lot too. I would kind of have to I suppose, to make sure everything is working properly.
The name thing he did is cool. He should come log on our server sometime. =P
