DAoC was chock-full of weddings! That's a good mark of a solid community. Here's a trip down memory lane...
My character Kirth the Cleric got married at Vetusta Abbey next to the city of Camelot, with several members of my guild in attendance. We then proceeded to the Ye Mug Inn in Camelot for a wild booze-soaked wedding reception (I've got a picture or two of that somewhere). The bride hated Kirth's best friend Hemah, and the whole adversarial triangle relationship made for great guild chat times! He got divorced about 6 weeks later- did I mention that Kirth was a carousing womanizer who was fond of drink?
Gack got married in the park in Tir na Nog, with members of the 2 guilds involved in attendance. The wedding was RPed most excellently. This one lasted much longer, seeing that Gack was a totally different personality than Kirth was!
The marriage of Suilebhain and Adelia in a field in Bri Leith. I remember a bawdy jokester carrying on in group chat that had a few us us laughing uncontrollably. Suile was a prickly but fantastic RPer. I don;t think this marriage lasted long, and there was some bad blood afterwards.
Vyrrean and Newander marry in the Druid's Grove in Tir na Nog.
Carnerela and Sariden wed in Tir na Nog- that was a big roleplay bash, complete with bards dancing on tables and confrontational drama! They were great folks.
Magnoliah was married to a handsome Celt whose name escapes me...Quillios? This took place in the housing area where Clan Suilebhain made their home.
Gack performed several weddings on Nimue- he did one, then word got around that he's the go-to Firby if you wanted to get hitched, apparently. I was even asked by a couple whom I didn't know, which was an honor. I had a lot of fun performing ceremonies! Here's some of them:
Sihnnead and Valkeer's wedding on the Isle of Unicorns (a wedding hot-spot). That's Darcy as best man, the best woman's name escapes me now. Good Rpers all.
Later on, Darce and Diernait were married. That's Guela (alt of Mabh) crashing the wedding picture, claiming to be a love child or some other outrageous nonsense that she was good at!
The wedding of Graiy and Rilanka of the Hounds of Morrigan in Tir na Nog...Graiy was very nervous and forgot lines, but Rilanka was a great sport about it. Gack is wearing a Cetus Cloak which was a desirable drop off of a sea monster under the waves in Atlantis.
That's me (Rhiam the Lurikeen) marrying Dectera and Hardestadt, both Champions, by the waterfall in the Shrouded Isles expansion area.
I had to look up 1 or 2 of the names here, the memories are fading a bit. I need to write more of this stuff down!
