I may never get around to designing something beautiful like the DeathStar or a huge hulking picture of Mario, but I love the natural things I find out in the game world. I can easily see myself trying to use Minecraft's engine / world building code in my own MMO someday

When I'm building, mining or tunneling, I try to keep as much of the natural landscape as possible and work within it. Makes things a little complicated sometimes, but I think the end result is pretty cool. Could make things a bit trickier when torches start burning out and I have trouble finding my way around a natural cavern in the dark but I plan on doing lanterns like crazy if I can. I'm wondering if the glowing stuff we see (upper left) of Notch's Hell-world preview picture is going to be used for those? A naturally luminescent ore would be the logical choice for a perma-light lantern!

Awesome Oatik! Glad you came! Now carve you out a little corner of the world. You can build next to Loendal. I finally saw him on last night. Oh, and Loendal, you should come check out the natural cave under my cabin. It's pretty cool. I put signs up in it that lead to all of the cool features. My cabin is on the little island off the coast of the spawning area, next to Kul's lighthouse. I found a new area to it last night, after digging a little bit. It also had two dungeons in it.

To those of you who haven't started playing yet, you should. It's a great, fun game.

I tried tracing a route back to the Furnace Shrine (/spawn) from my Cavern using the compass and I didn't even make it. I must be way out there in limbo. I have big plans for my chunk of the world. If I can trace a route back, I'll drop signposts on the way. I tried going by boat, ran into an island then the boat smashed up and I couldn't pick up the pieces

I'll try and build a huge tower or something out there in the water and maybe be able to spot some landmark.

I'm somewhere SE from the Furnace Shrine, just don't know how far! (My compass points NW from my Home point). I've got a couple of big Braziers set up on the shore and torches to make my entrances so hopefully it'll be discovered someday

On a side note, I found out what /kit does. /kit iron gives you a stack of 64 Iron Bars. While I think this is a good thing to have while smelting is buggered up, I felt like I was cheating so I've been trying to find somewhere I can donate 64 Iron Ore blocks and 8 Coal to make up the difference. Maybe suggest this honor system to the admin until the smelting gets fixed? Smelting Cobblestone to Stone also results in half-doors, by the way.

Yeah, I found out what /kit does today as well. Remember that mod I was talking about last night? Well we're leaving it for now, because everyone likes the bind and warp features it provides (as well as /playerlist and other small things). So unfortunately, you won't be able to smelt while the mod is on the server.

If you need anything that requires smelting, just ask one of the administrators in-game or me. With administrator privileges, I can just create iron bars (or whatever else) for you. And it appears you feel guilty, like me and the other admins, about being able to do that (since you're not working for your materials).

So you can do what I do. I'm trying to make a bunch of glass (I'm building Atlantis). However since the smelting it currently goofed up, I'm just creating the glass blocks I need. But I go through the trouble of mining the sand first, then I toss it out and create the glass. The game is pointless if you can cheat IMO.

Interesting video Rego, I guess I just do not see the appeal of this game. I already play in a massive sandbox where I can make/build anything.
